About

This blog is about our travels on the entire Via Alpina “green trail” in Switzerland and a few stages of the Via Alpina “red trail.”

In July 2013, three of us took a two-week trek on the Via Alpina green trail from Lenk to Engelberg.  I’m Bill Cook, and I was accompanied by my wife and our daughter.  I live in Montana in the USA.

On that 2013 trip to Switzerland, we hiked the western half of the “green trail.”   In August 2016 we three returned (along with one of our sons) to finish that trail, hiking the eastern half.

In 2019, my wife, daughter and I hiked a few stages of the Via Alpina “red trail” through Liechtenstein, a part of Austria and the Prättigau region of Switzerland.

This blog focuses mostly on our hikes on the green trail, but also includes one post about our hike on the red trail.

This site is easily the BEST everyday resource on the internet for those wishing to hike the Switzerland portion of the Via Alpina. Bill, could you please contact me? I have many questions for you. I am currently planning a trip to hike this exact portion of the Via Alpina. Thanks for your time. Great website!
